What authorized GE service means for you
An authorized GE service representative is a technician GE has approved to carry out repairs on its appliances, including repairs covered by the GE warranty. Wayne at Choice Appliance Service holds that status and serves Etobicoke. In plain terms, it means three things for a homeowner.
Warranty repairs. A GE appliance that fails while under warranty can be repaired by Wayne under the terms of that warranty. Wayne confirms coverage with you before the visit.
GE-sourced parts. Parts used on GE repairs are GE-sourced, so the replacement matches what the appliance was built with.
GE diagnostic procedures. Wayne diagnoses GE appliances using GE’s service information for that model rather than by trial and error.
Authorized status does not limit Wayne to warranty work. A GE fridge, washer, dryer, stove, oven, dishwasher or microwave that is years past its warranty gets the same parts and the same procedures on a regular paid visit.

Common GE appliance problems
GE fridge not cooling
Check that the temperature setting has not been changed and that the door closes fully. A fridge that is warm while the freezer is cold usually needs a technician. See the fridge repair page.
GE washer not spinning or not draining
Check that the load is balanced and the drain hose is not kinked. A washer that fills and agitates but never spins needs a visit.
GE dryer not heating
Check the lint filter and the exhaust vent for blockage. A GE dryer that tumbles with no heat needs a technician. Gas dryers should not be opened by the homeowner.
GE dishwasher not draining
Clear the filter at the bottom of the tub and check the drain hose. Standing water after every cycle means a call.
GE oven not heating
Check the clock and any delayed start setting. An oven that lights or clicks but does not reach temperature needs a visit. Gas ranges are never a do-it-yourself repair.
GE error code on the display
Note the code, unplug the appliance for 60 seconds and plug it back in. A code that returns means the control has detected a real fault. Tell Wayne the code when you book.
Warranty repair or paid repair
| Situation | What happens | Cost to you |
|---|---|---|
| GE appliance under warranty, covered fault | Wayne repairs it as GE’s authorized representative | Covered under the GE warranty terms |
| GE appliance under warranty, fault not covered | Wayne explains before any chargeable work | You, quoted first |
| GE appliance out of warranty | Regular visit, same GE parts and procedures | You, quoted first |
How non-warranty pricing works is on the pricing page. Wayne tells you the diagnostic fee when you book.
How a GE service visit works
- Call (416) 329-1415 or use the request-a-visit form. Have the model number handy. It is on a label inside the fridge, inside the door of a washer or dryer, or on the frame of a range or dishwasher.
- Wayne confirms the appointment himself, usually the evening before.
- Wayne arrives with common GE parts in the van, so many repairs finish in one visit.
- If a part has to be ordered, Wayne books the return visit before he leaves.
