Common stove and oven symptoms
Oven not heating
Check the clock, any delayed start or Sabbath mode, and the breaker. An electric oven with a blistered or broken bake element, or a gas oven that clicks or glows but never lights, needs a technician.
Oven baking unevenly or not reaching temperature
Check that the racks are placed as the manual shows and that the door seals when closed. An oven that runs cold or hot by more than a few degrees after those checks has a sensor, element or control fault.
Gas burner not lighting
Check that the burner cap is seated correctly and dry, and that the ports are not clogged with food. A burner that sparks but does not light, or does not spark at all, needs a licensed technician. Turn the burner off and do not keep trying.
Electric burner not working
Check that the burner is seated fully in its receptacle and that the control is set. Do not swap or test coils yourself. A burner that stays dead, or a glass-top zone that does not heat, needs the receptacle, switch or element tested with the power off, so call.
Oven door not closing or locked
Check for a warped rack or a pan holding the door open. An oven door still locked after a self-clean cycle has cooled, or a door that will not close flat, needs a hinge or latch repair.
Stove clicking constantly
Dry the burners and caps after a spill and wait an hour. Clicking that continues with everything dry means a spark module or a shorted electrode.
Oven error code
Note the code, turn off the breaker for 60 seconds and turn it back on. A code that returns means a real fault. Tell Wayne the code when you book.
